Skipped a day!!

February 7, 2010

Yesterday I followed flylady’s  rules.  I followed my morning routine.  I am feeling pretty good about having a routine.  It feels right.  There are other things that don’t feel right.  I keep thinking about my young patient.  When I see young people in the hospital they are surrounded by a plethora of gadgets.  This young girl is not.  I do not know if its by choice or not.  I brought her some books and hopefully that will keep her occupied somehow.  If she had a less severe illness she could be in pediatrics.  I stop in daily and I pray for her recovery.

No blog  post yesterday.  Friday was such a crazy day in the hospital I kept a minimal morning routine on Sat. and did a couple of errands before work.  Saturday was another crazy day at the hospital.  At the end of seven days of ten hour shifts there is not a lot of giddy up in my get along. lol  Next week will be a relief.

The mittens for my son Joe are almost finished.  I only need to finish the last thumb!!  Ya !!  .  I began a baby sweater.  Its my first sweater.  Funny how I decided to begin knitting in baby steps and my first sweater is a baby sweater.  lol   Because I am a SHE I have not allowed myself to knit any further on the sweater Joe’s mittens are finished.

I also want to start a pair of mittens for my son AL.  I have to move along on them so he gets them before winter ends.!!  lol

God blessed me with identical twin boys and a beautiful daughter.  When I finish Al’s mittens then each of my children will have mittens and a scarf knit by mom.  lol

It is Sunday and according to flylady its spiritual renewal day.  I need to renew, jump into my car, enjoy and make the best of the final day of work for the week!!

Cheers and blessings to all.

I guess I am boring!! lol

Nobody read my blog yesterday..  Oh well I am going to blog on and get through today.

I have a patient that has really been  on my mind lately.  She is a young girl and really sick.  I have added her to my prayers.  Due to privacy laws I cannot say anything more other than I wish her well.

Yesterday’s sweater turned out to be slightly felted.  No frogging of that yarn.  Instead the sweater has found a home with a sewer who wants to make mittens for her granddaughter.  The other cashmere sweater has real potential.  It will take several hours to carefully deconstruct it but the effort will be totally worth it!!.

Fluttering is at status quo.  Once again I need to leave the house early to run errands for my son.  He needs a handicap parking pass for school.  I have to go get the paperwork from the town, mail the paperwork to the doc, they fill it out, mail it back to me.  I take the paperwork back to the town and hopefully obtain a handicapped pass for the kid who cannot walk.

If fluttering is at status quo, and I am hovering,  I must be a  helicopter parent :O  LOL

Frogging Yarn…. HUH?

February 4, 2010

I have always admired hand knit items.  I just started knitting last September.  In this short time I have fallen in love with natural fibers.  I wander yarn shops and touch all the soft stuff.   I have discovered that the softer the yarn (if it is a natural fiber) the more expensive it is.   I WANT to knit with that yarn.  The price of cashmere is just out of reach.   SO…..I dropped off my salvation army bags yesterday  ….. ( you are wondering what gourmet yarn and salvation army have in common)  and being a true SHE I just had to go inside.  The sweaters are right there in the front!!  🙂  I found a beautiful red cashmere sweater and a lambs wool/angora sweater.  It was Wednesday,  1/2 off day.!!    Yay!!   For four dollars I bought  two sweaters.  I saw TONS of sweaters worthy of unraveling but I decided that I would only buy sweaters made with exotic and or gourmet yarn.  I can go to the local craft store for everyday wool.

I did not realize that you have to carefully deconstruct the sweater.  It is more involved than just snipping a stitch!!      ( glad I stuck to gourmet yarn sweaters. )

In true SHE fashion there was no fluttering today.    Just oversleeping preparing for work and enjoying late morning coffee.  🙂  🙂

I wonder, does no fluttering today equal F for frogging.!! lol

I am such a SHE!! lol

February 3, 2010

I am a total she.  In total she fashion I did not get to Salvation Army yesterday.  I was sidetracked 😦  .   BUT,  I am ready to go today.  My bags are packed and just need hauling to the car..  That being said I am totally ready for work, lunch packed, handbags (yes handbags) packed, hair make up etc.  finished and SHOES laced!!  Ya  ready to flutter over to Salvation Army and get to JoAnn Fabric for a special size knitting needle.   I have fluttered in the house even though I over slept.

Over sleeping is a hazard in my line of work.  Yesterday was such a busy day it was difficult to fall asleep.  I tried and tried.  I was still revved up from an immensely busy day.  I really need at least 8 hours of sleep.  I mean really NEED the sleep.  So I did not set an alarm and just let nature take its course.  What I found out that by having set up a simple AM routine oversleeping was not such a hardship, at least for today!! Fluttering  today!!

Working in a hospital really gives one a different perspective, outside of yourself and ones limited personal experiences.   Your blessings in life become apparent.  Seeing and experiencing others hardship makes me count my blessings daily..  I am thankful!!  Blessings to all!!  Have an awesome Day!!!

Whew! Back to fluttering:>)

February 2, 2010

I set my alarm this am.  I have it set for 8:30.  I jump up when the alarm goes off and turn up the heat.  lol  Jump back under the covers and give the house a half hour to warm up.    Now many of you may think that this is rather late for getting up but on my (working) schedule, it works.  I leave the hospital around 11 PM.  Drive home, wind down, admire my shiny sink, and turn the lights off at midnight.  Its my Cinderella hour.  I also knit until midnight!. My projects of late have been scarves and hats.  I knit each of my children a scarf  as a Christmas gift.   I only knit for those that I love.  Each stitch is a kiss, and when my  kids wear the knitted item, I am really giving them a hug.  They don’t understand this.  They are not parents yet.  I think one needs to be a parent before some of my logic will make sense to them.  lol  Below are Margaret’s Mittens!!  I am now into mittens.  Knitting with double points in the round is like knitting with an octopus.  It takes a little getting used to!!

Margaret's Mittens!

Today I went back to fluttering.  No Cheryl it doesn’t hurt!! lol  Actually it feels really good!  I also found two bags of old clothing to gift to salvation army on my way to work.

I think I can only give myself a B- today in the flit/flutter dept.   Its a short day in the house today so even though I decluttered I did not get some of it into a final place.    Thank goodness flying/fluttering  is guilt free.  🙂  My dining room and living room LOOK great.  But there was no detail cleaning.  I will need to detail clean when I realy have the time to dig into a project and see it to its completion.   Its just not gonna happen on work weeks!

Blessings to all!!  🙂

I had really good intentions to flutter to an A+  today.    I could not dress down to the shoes.   My scrubs were in the dryer and were not dry.  Flying takes planning and preparation.   So flying lessons involve fluttering.   Some days, I guess fluttering turns into flying.  On other days I guess fluttering is the best one can do.  Today my toes never left the ground.    Its a short morning in the house.  I  go to work by 1300.   I must run errands for my son Al, before I go to work.  So his emergency is now my emergency.  .  He is 20 and really not a teenager, but I love him….. as I love all my children.  My lack of planning combined with his lack of planning equals a face plant in the flying department for me today.    Does an attempt to flutter get an E for effort?  lol
